Livestock Nutrition & Forage Research

Laboratory and field research into the feed and forage constraints of the Cholistan region.

Livestock Nutrition & Forage Research

A feed problem worth an institute

Established on 31 October 2025, this institute exists to address a specific and measurable regional constraint: limited feed resources, poor forage quality, seasonal variability, and the inadequate scientific evaluation of local fodders.

Its approach combines laboratory analysis with field study — the analytical work backed by a metabolic animal shed where controlled nutritional trials run on live animals.

Research areas

  • Livestock nutrition specific to Cholistan and southern Punjab
  • Forage evaluation and quality assessment
  • Feed quality assurance and analysis

Feed & fodder analysis service

The institute offers analysis to farmers and feed businesses across 11 test types, priced from Rs. 800 to Rs. 1,600. Tests cover moisture, crude protein, fibre, fat and ash, along with specialised detergent-fibre measurements.
