Introduction

The Department of Physiology & Biochemistry aimed to provide a stimulating and diverse research and training environment of international standards in which important and exciting areas of modern Biochemistry and Physiology can be investigated encompassing both in structural and functional approaches. The Department is currently at the juvenile stage with the faculty members of highest academic degrees and excellent research backgrounds. The Department pursuing the research aims through up-to-date equipment’s and state-of-the-art technologies, the recruitment of high-caliber staff, maintenance of industrial contacts, and the fostering of close links and collaborations with international scientific community. The Department's research is grouped under the headings of several broad programs including Animal Physiology, Veterinary Sciences, Endocrinology, Reproductive Physiology, Neuroscience, Clinical Physiology & Biochemistry, Enzymology, Nutritional and Metabolic Biochemistry, Plant Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Photo-medicine, Photo-biochemistry, and Biomedical materials. In near future, Department is going to collaborate with international research groups to share knowledge, students exchange and scientific endeavors. Cell culture lab is under the process of designing with the collaboration of Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, CUVAS. Excellent research facilities and a research-oriented faculty allow our Department to offer broad spectrum programs of graduate and postgraduate study where students can acquire a thorough and diverse background in Physiology & Biochemistry. Our curriculum has been designed according to the guidelines of HEC. We expect to produce the finest quality Physiologist and Biochemists from our Department to play important role in nation building. The B.S. (Hons.) Biochemistry, M. Phil / Ph. D. Physiology and M. Phil / Ph. D. Biochemistry programs are being introduced by the upcoming academic session.
