What this department covers

The meat industry in Pakistan is growing rapidly, creating increasing demand for professionals with specialized knowledge and practical expertise in meat science and technology. To address this need, the Department of Meat Technology was established in 2018 under the Faculty of Animal Production and Technology at CUVAS, Bahawalpur. The Department is committed to producing well-qualified, practically competent professionals capable of managing the meat supply chain; promoting sustainable meat production through innovative research; ensuring the production of safe, export-quality meat at processing plants; and developing value-added meat products using modern processing and packaging technologies.

The Department also maintains a comprehensive Meat Processing Laboratory equipped with modern processing and packaging facilities to support high-impact research and address key challenges facing the meat industry. Furthermore, the curriculum emphasizes technical proficiency and entrepreneurial skills, enabling graduates to develop innovative solutions and pursue business opportunities in the evolving meat sector.
